Preschool, Kindergarten
through Grade 6
Each week (schedule below) we
will explore the marsh and beach with a special focus on the theme of the week.
All classes are offered for the grade level students will complete in June 2010.
Kindergarten meets at the beach on Wednesdays. Grades 1-6 meet at the beach on
Tuesdays, and have a Thursday field trip , some with additional costs.

For ages 3-5.
Hands-on nature activities,
crafts, stories, adventures in the marsh, and more! Your kneehigh
nature lover will be immersed in learning and fun the
entire week.

2: June 21 -- June 25 |
Totally Turtles
Turtles of all types live
here in New Jersey. Learn about diamondback terrapins, sea
turtles, box turtles and more.
Field Trip to Cape May County
Zoo & Belleplain State Forest.

3: June 28 -- July 2 |
Explore The Shore
Crabs, sea stars,
shrimp, urchins, terrapins, seahorses and shorebirds. Just some
of the animals we’ll meet this week as we discover New Jersey
from ocean to bay and everything in between. We will explore
unique habitats: ocean, beach, salt marsh and forest. Find what
lives in each area as we experience them first hand.

to Kimbles Beach and Belleplain State Forest
Spectacular Sharks
Awesome, amazing
and at times scary, these popular fish come in all shapes and
sizes. We’ll separate fact from fiction and learn about their
cousins the skates and rays before the week is through. Field
Trip to Ocean Life Center
$12 per student.

Marine Mammal Madness
Mammals
below the sea, how can that be? We’ll discover the facts about
whales, dolphins, manatees and many more marine mammals. Field Trip to Cape May Whale Watch and Cape May Point State Park

6: July 19-- July 23 |
Predators & Prey:
In the water, in the
air, on the ground and everywhere: the hunters and the hunted.
How do predators find food? How can prey keep from being
eaten? Sharp teeth, amazing speed, camouflage, poison and
more! Explore the relationships and amazing adaptations that
animals have to survive in the wild, see if you can survive in our
predator/prey game, and meet some live predators and prey!
Field trip to Jakes Landing and Belleplain State Forest

7: July 26 -- July 30 |
Sea Monsters!
During the age of
the dinosaurs, strange and sometimes massive creatures ruled
the waters. We’ll learn about some extinct “monsters” of the
seas, and about the the angler fish, hatchet fish, giant squid and
more awesome, weird and mysterious creatures that rule the
sea today.
Field Trip to Ocean Life Center
$12 per student.

8: August 2-- August 6 |
Nature Art Safari
Discover your wild and
creative side! This week we’ll be exploring the connection
between art and our natural world. You’ll be able to explore
the outdoors and then create works of art both created from
and inspired by nature. Try everything from photography to
painting to sand castle sculptures! Field trip to Leamings Run
Gardens and Belleplain State Forest
$12 per student.

| Week 9: August 9 -- August 11 (Special 3 day camp Mon-Wed) |
Super Slimy
Nature
Come experience 3 days of non-stop yuckiness as we
get muddy, do slimy experiments, make icky artwork, learn
about the grossest animals in the world, and all things slimy,
oozy, smelly and creepy in nature.
