Paddle For the Edge 2023
Do you love paddling the back bays and are looking for a way to help our mission? We are introducing a new program, in partnership with Barnegat Bay Partnership, Paddle For the Edge 2023. Using your smart phone and your own kayak or SUP, volunteers will collect data on the marsh edge conditions. The data collected will help scientists & local municipalities develop strategies to offset the effects of flooding and storm impacts, as well as assist in assessing how shorelines may react to sea-level rise.
When: Registration is from June 1 – 20. Survey window runs from July 1 – 31.
Eligibility: All ages, local or seasonally local to Southern NJ.
Required Commitment: Survey segments are typically 1 kilometer long, but volunteers can do more or less than one segment per trip. No minimum trip amount required.
Registration: Complete the form available here (Virtual training material, handbook, and resource links will be available upon completion of the form).

Terrapin Barrier Fence Regular Maintenance

When: May – August.
Eligibility: 18 years and up. Willing to conduct physical work in hot, buggy conditions around poison ivy, willingness to use hammers and weed-whackers as needed.
Required Commitment: minimum 1-2 days a month.

When: Trainings scheduled based on demand. Frog survey window extends through August.
Eligibility: All ages, local or seasonally local to Southern NJ.
Required Commitment: Surveys are performed at least 4 times per year, each are 5 minutes in length.
