Scholarship Application Guidelines

Mission: The mission of The Wetlands Institute is to promote appreciation, understanding and stewardship of wetlands and coastal ecosystems through our programs in research, education and conservation.

Eligibility: Eligibility for the scholarship program is open to all schools, nationwide, that demonstrate high financial and/or student need, with schools in Cape May, Cumberland, Salem, Gloucester, Camden, Atlantic, Burlington, and Ocean Counties receiving priority. A maximum of two (2) applications per school will be considered per academic school year. Schools that receive successfully funded scholarship applications will need to participate in the program during the academic school year during which the funds were granted or otherwise forfeit the scholarship monies.

Academic School Year 2026-2027 Opportunities:

Virtual and/or In-person Participation Fall 2026 – Application Period Closed
Fall Participation Applies to Environmental Education Field Trip Programs, Traveling Environmental Education Programs and Science Education at Sea (SEAS) Programs.
Notification of Acceptance:  Ongoing Fall 2026
Programs Occur:  September – November 2026

Virtual and/or In-person Participation Winter 2026-2027 – Application Period Open
Winter Participation Applies to Traveling Environmental Education Programs Only!
Notification of Acceptance:  Ongoing Winter 2026-2027
Programs Occur:  December 2026 – March 2027

Virtual and/or In-person Participation Spring 2027 – Application Period Open
Spring Participation Applies to Environmental Education Field Trip Programs, Traveling Environmental Education Programs and Science Education at Sea (SEAS) Programs.
Notification of Acceptance:  Ongoing Spring 2027
Programs Occur:  April – June 2027
