For the second year in a row, one of the Institute’s faithful volunteers, Steve Ahern, is running the New York City Marathon on Sunday, November 6th. Steve’s goal is to raise over $2,000 for the Institute’s research department and aquarium.
Last year, Steve and his wife, Susan, were able to raise almost $2,000 in pledges and donations.
Below is a letter from Steve Ahern.

Hello Everyone,
For the second time, I am running the NYC Marathon (26.2 miles) on November 6. My wife, Susan, and I have been volunteering at The Wetlands Institute in Stone Harbor since we moved to the shore. For those of you not familiar with The Wetlands, it is a non profit coastal conservation research facility which also conducts educational programs. In particular, we are involved in their Diamondback Terrapin rescue project.
Not that I needed any motivation for the upcoming race, but I was thinking what better way to raise money for a worthwhile cause than to combine two of my favorite things: running and the Wetlands Institute.
Below is a link to donate to my cause. Whether you are able to or not, any good thoughts you have on that day will be appreciated, as I’ll need all the positive energy I can get!
Sincerely,
Steve Ahern
